Welcome! My name is Ikenna, and I hear you’re looking for parent support.

Parenting is a precious time in your life when everything can feel like it’s on fire.

Someone always seems to be dysregulated, and the metaphorical coping skill toolbox lacks variety and effectiveness. Every parenting blog, book, or podcast doesn’t seem to understand your family’s specific needs.

You need someone to check in on how you’re showing up, and to guide you in understanding yourself and your family members’ tendencies. You need more than advice. You need experiential learning. You need integration.

This is where I come in.

What I offer as a parent coach

  • While I cannot provide therapy, the resources and education I’ve received in grad school, internship, and continuing education has allowed me to collect and apply knowledge when teaching you how and why you may show up the way you do towards your kiddos. I can provide information on child development and how to navigate sensory seeking/avoiding behaviors.

I also work with people who are queer, polyamorous, and neurodivergent so if you and/or your kids fall in these populations, parenting tips and tricks to the general public may seem too simple for you and your kids.

I don’t educate to throw statistics at you and compare your experience to the “norm”. I find resources that work for your specific family’s needs.

  • We receive scrutiny as parents even before we become parents! How are you conceiving? What’s your birth plan? How are they going to be fed? You named them THAT? Defenses come up and we can find ourselves in a flood of self-criticism.

When I work with you, you may come face to face with your own shame the more you learn. I can help you build awareness regarding how your shame and self-criticism shows up. That way, you will recognize when you may be taking your child’s dysregulation personally.

  • While coaching can be advice and then homework, I make sure my sessions provide education as well as opportunites for you to apply the knowledge to past experiences as well as navigating the feelings that arise in the present.
