Justice: Balance & Fairness

It has been interesting to witness the divine timing unfolding as I move through these tarot cards on the schedule my intuition invited me to use – simply allowing the “April Fool” theme to inspired the series and just see what arose.

Today was so Justice oriented I had to go back in time to finish the blog post. About the time I sat down to work on this, I got bombarded with information about a variety of injustices arising locally and within the Collective. Whew. Really knocked the wind out of my sails for a while, so I stopped back to do some art, spend time with loved ones, and just feel my feelings.

Justice is high on my values list. Seeing justice served, truly and ethically, is rare in a modern society that normalizes bargains and underhanded favors for friends. When we are not considered on the merits of our actions but rather by our popularity or access to resources, it is not a just world. Until all people can be served and supported by our society and justice system, the world on the whole will maintain this imbalance and injustice.

Part of my mission as co-founder of Living LUNA is to truly walk the walk, not just talk the talk, of social justice, authenticity for all, and a world where all beings are free to love without shame. To do this, we must first understand our unique differences are to be celebrated not controlled, and that when only a few benefit, it is not true benefit, but rather continually enabled harm of self and others. Being cruel and unkind to others under no circumstances helps us to be healthier, better selves.

I am no longer sitting back and keeping my voice silent when it comes to speaking up about injustice and the ways authority figures and patriarchal power structures continue to oppress and cause continually harm to everyone, even if it appears to benefit those in power completely and utterly. We are multidimensional beings with many facets and I believe we can never truly be healthy while stepping on the backs of others.

I could write a dissertation on all the injustice in our world, but I know I don’t need to here. You know. If you’re awake and aware at all, you understand that there is a war of division being waged that will never serve to unite us. It only keeps us engaged in everything from petty squabbles to feeling entitled to use each other, including up to expending someone’s very vital life force and spirit for our gain.

It is unacceptable in my eyes.

Activism is LOVE + ACTION. How are you bringing your love forward in action? And yes, the action can simply be LOVING YOURSELF more! No one is required to be a frontline fighter in the fight for unity and peace. Simply loving yourself and tenderly caring for yourself without judgement may just be the most important thing you ever contribute to society.

How are you loving yourself justly today?

Symbolism & Interpretations

The Justice tarot card is a powerful symbol of balance, integrity, fairness, and truth.

One of the key symbols in the Justice card is the scales. The scales represent balance and fairness, as well as the idea that actions have consequences. The scales also represent the concept of weighing evidence and making decisions based on objective evidence rather than subjective opinions or biases.

Another important symbol in the Justice card is the sword. The sword represents the power of truth and the need to be honest and transparent in all dealings. The sword also represents the idea of cutting away falsehood and illusion to reveal the truth, no matter how difficult or painful that truth may be.

The woman depicted in the Justice card is often blindfolded, representing the idea that justice is blind and impartial. This blindfold also represents the need to look beyond superficial appearances and to focus on objective evidence and truth. I see it as true inclusivity, justice without egoic judgement.

Perhaps the most important aspect of the Justice card is the concept of balance. The card represents the idea that justice cannot be achieved unless there is balance and fairness in all things. This includes balance between our actions and their consequences, balance between different perspectives and viewpoints, and balance between the needs of the individual and the needs of the community.

Reflection Questions:

  • How do you feel when you see the Justice card? Does it inspire feelings of reassurance, fear, or something else?

  • How do you define justice? Do you believe that justice can be achieved in all situations, or are there certain situations in which justice is impossible?

  • Do you feel that there is balance and fairness in your life? Are there areas where you feel that you are treated unfairly, or where you are not being held accountable for your actions?

  • How do you handle difficult truths or situations where you may be called upon to be honest, even if it is difficult or painful? Do you prioritize honesty and transparency in your dealings with others?
