The Hermit: Remember to Retreat

Good gravy do I wanna embrace my inner Hermit and run off with them! My subconscious aspect in Human Design is the Hermit and I'm supposed to be in my hermit stage until my 50s. However, I am out here running around trying to make world altering changes. Perhaps its time to take a little vacation. ;)

The Hermit reminds us that in order to find answers to our questions, we must first look within. We have all the knowledge within us that we need! I really came into this deep inner knowing of my wisdom in early 2022 when I took a masterclass that allowed me to REMEMBER! I remembered I am fully capable of self-realization. We all have inner wisdom and knowledge that can guide us on our journey, but it is up to us to take the time to listen and discover it.

By embracing solitude and introspection, we can gain a deeper understanding of ourselves and our path in life.

How can you take some space for yourself to look inward?

Symbolism & Interpretations

In most traditional tarot decks, the Hermit is depicted as an old man holding a lantern in one hand and a staff in the other. He is often shown walking alone, either on a path or up a mountain. The lantern represents inner wisdom and knowledge, and the staff represents the Hermit's journey and his connection to the earth.

The Hermit's cloak is also significant, as it symbolizes the protection and solitude that he seeks. The cloak is often depicted as a dark, rich color, such as blue or green, which represents the Hermit's inner knowledge and spirituality.

The mountain or path that the Hermit is walking on represents the journey of self-discovery. It symbolizes the ups and downs of life, the challenges and obstacles that we all face, and the need to find our own way.

The Hermit's face is often hidden or partially obscured, which represents the idea that his wisdom is not for everyone. It is only for those who are willing to seek it out, to go on their own inner journey of discovery.

One of the most intriguing symbols on the Hermit card is the six-pointed star that appears on the Hermit's lantern. This symbol is known as the Seal of Solomon, and it represents the union of opposites. The Hermit embodies this idea, as he seeks to unite his inner and outer selves, his wisdom and his experience, his spiritual and physical being.

The Hermit card is often associated with the astrological sign of Virgo, which is ruled by the planet Mercury. This connection underscores the importance of the Hermit's knowledge and wisdom, as well as his ability to communicate these ideas to others.

The Hermit is a reminder that sometimes, we need to withdraw from the outside world to find answers within. By taking the time to reflect on our lives, we can gain insight, clarity, and direction. So, take some time to embrace your inner Hermit, and see where the journey takes you.
