The Tower Tarot Card: Embracing Transformation and Growth

Anytime the Tower comes in a reading, I admittedly grimace a bit. I experience an instant guttural fear seeing the imagery because although I like change, I don’t typically like the idea of unexpected change that the Tower often seems to indicate.

I’m in a sort of Tower phase of life right now. Honestly, the whole system as we know it seems to be crumbling down around us! I am trying so hard to breathe and be through it all.

Who else is feeling the terror of new beginnings right now?

Symbolism & Interpretation

Depicting a tall, ominous tower being struck by lightning and crumbling to the ground, the Tower is a symbol of sudden upheaval, destruction, and chaos.

At first glance, the Tower card may seem like a frightening and negative omen. However, upon deeper reflection, it becomes clear that this card represents a necessary and transformative process. It is a reminder that sometimes, in order to create something new and better, we must first tear down what no longer serves us.

The Tower card often appears in readings when we have been holding onto beliefs, relationships, or situations that are not aligned with our highest good. The lightning strike represents a sudden realization or awakening, and the crumbling tower symbolizes the breaking down of old patterns and structures. While this can be a painful and challenging process, it is ultimately for our own growth and evolution.

The Tower tarot card may be a challenging and uncomfortable archetype to encounter, but it is ultimately a powerful and transformative symbol of growth and evolution. With reflection and a few deep breaths, we can begin to see the Tower card not as a scary prophecy, but as an invitation to step into our power and create a new and better future for ourselves. By embracing the lessons it offers and trusting in the process of change, we can emerge from the rubble of our old selves and step confidently into a brighter future.

Affirmation: "I trust in the universe's plan and find strength in chaos."

Keywords: Upheaval, Chaos, and Sudden Change.

Reflection Questions:

  • What old patterns or structures in my life are no longer serving me?

  • What beliefs or relationships do I need to release in order to move forward?

  • What is the sudden realization or awakening that is calling for my attention?

  • How can I embrace the changes that are happening and trust in the transformative process?
