The Star in Tarot: Hope, Inspiration, and Renewal
This tarot series isn’t finished, my friends. ;)
The Tower may have knocked me out, but that's alright! In many ways, the brief break in this series has been perfect and needed for clarity.
On the day I’d originally scheduled to work with the Star, I was distractible, flighty, ungrounded, and all over the place. I could see I was struggling. Even my usual optimism was hard to access.
So... I focused on taking a break. I recognized a level of overwhelm was creeping in with my current schedule and that was ultimately on me. I took several days to turn off, play, and rest. In this, I built back up my ability to tap into inner wisdom and creativity.
This slowing down process let me see how I was rushing ahead in fear, tripping on obstacles I could have easily avoided if more mindful.
I began mapping out a transition plan for my career using art, spoken and written words, and symbols. I sat outside on the porch quite a bit. I went on a day trip to a new city and tried a new food. I let myself not "work."
I recognized what I consider work vs. play, and why it's important for me to do a little bit of both.
The creative tension that exists in the space between comfort & joy vs. expansion & possibility has such potency. In this space, we will choose to make massive leaps in life. In that creative birth space we can collapse timelines and quantum leap ahead in our goals through acts of ritual and integration. It's all about intention.
Intention is very much associated with Lunar flow (see: Divine Feminine). So this Lunar flow in action looked like me letting my intituion and inspiration take the lead for a while. This is essential to building up my more action oriented energy reserves (Solar energy) which is required to take continued action.
All of these realizations were deeply nourishing!
The Star’s energy has been more present during this time of retreat and play, and I'm grateful for the pause to appreciate it!
Regardless of what deck I’ve read with, The Star has always been one of my favorite tarot cards. Perhaps due to the use of soft, often feminine imagery, moonlight, and water, I find myself very drawn to the symbolism and feelings this card evokes. It's often depicted how I would like my life to look (hell yeah, naked under moonlight with some pristine ritual water and my hair flowing? Sounds like a good life).
However, looking back, I see many times in which I’ve misinterpreted this card as being somehow romantic or indicating a particularly positive outcome. In studying the card further, I see that the Star more accurately represents our inner reserves and the importance of trusting ourselves to see things through no matter what. We choose the outcomes we aim to work towards and how we nurture ourselves and take action on the course of manifesting that vision into actualized reality.
Sometimes that looks like taking a deep breath and a step back to rest and flow. Now that I’ve done that, I feel more prepared to face the path ahead.
Now, I'm leaning into a delicious joy of birthing The Sacred Moon Circle! It is finally getting it's feet under it with a full launch page. Allowing my intuition to lead has helped a TON of clarity to blossom. Thank goodness for the breath!
