The Sun: A Symbol of Enlightenment and Joy

Following right after the Moon, we have the Sun card in the Major Arcana!

I love the duality of Sun and Moon as to me they represent the balance of our inner energies. Society has aggressively gendered these energies, so in attempting to dismantle the hierarchy of this gendering, I’ve began using the terms Lunar and Solar energy to redefine and renegotiate our relationships with “Femme” and “Masc” energy. Even in choosing not to use the terms Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine, I am bucking the current system of thinking.

As I explored early in this blog series, I’ve always been highly attuned to the traditional Solar flow of our society. Daily action. Daily giving. Daily productivity. Steady. Routine. Unchanging.

However, this is why balance is so necessary! Giving, acting, producing, being completely routine is not what any of us are meant to do all the time! We must balance these energies out with their more mutable counterpart in the more Lunar energy patterns of ebb and flow, receiving, and being.

The Sun symbolizes our relationship with joy and the actualization of our desires and goals. I’m enjoying recognizing today how much leaning into my Solar energy of planning, acting, and giving is leading towards the fulfillment of my desires! Soon, I will be a full time Spiritual Guide, inclusivity consultant, changemaker, and visionary CEO. I’m making magic!

How are you taking action towards your desires?

Symbolism & Interpretations

The Sun is one of the most radiant and positive cards in the Tarot deck. It is a symbol of enlightenment, vitality, and joy, and represents the ultimate realization of one's innermost desires and goals.

The Sun Tarot card is often depicted as a large, bright yellow orb in the center of the card. Surrounding it are rays of light that radiate outward, symbolizing the spread of knowledge, warmth, and positivity. The card is often associated with the zodiac sign Leo, which is known for its confident, outgoing, and creative energy.

In a Tarot reading, the Sun card typically represents success, happiness, and achievement. It can indicate a time of great joy and celebration, as well as a period of growth and expansion. This card encourages you to express your true self and to let your light shine brightly for all to see.

The Sun card can also be interpreted as a symbol of enlightenment and spiritual awakening. It represents a deep understanding of the interconnectedness of all things and a recognition of the divinity within oneself and others. This card can be a powerful reminder to stay grounded in the present moment and to seek out opportunities for personal growth and self-discovery.
